March 26th - Colorism Talk at the Atrium Middle School
On March 24th, Selena(founder of Sisterbridge) gave a talk at Atrium Middle School as a part of a colorism speaker series. The students learned about the definition and history of colorism, and did activities around how we can prevent colorism in schools, and in society!
March 27th - Colorism Talk at the Croft School - South End
On March 27th, Selena(founder of Sisterbridge) gave a talk at Croft School - South End as a part of a colorism speaker series. The 1st and 2nd graders learned the meaning of colorism and racism, and how they differ. We also talked about times when they themselves, or others were treated differently.
March 31st - Colorism Talk at Atrium Elementary School
On March 24th, Selena(founder of Sisterbridge) gave a talk at Atrium Elementary School as a part of a colorism speaker series. The students learned about the definition and history of colorism, and did activities around how we can prevent colorism in schools, and in society!
Hair University, June 13th, 1-4 PM
On June 13th, 1-4 PM, Sisterbridge hosted "Hair University" at the Cambridge Community Center. The event consisted of local businesses teaching hairstyles, giving out samples, and answering questions.
Stylists taught styles such as updos, feed-in/stitch braids, color mixing and much more.
The event was successful, with an attendance of over 150.
